How to Play the Game!

.
As you progress, you’ll encounter:
– Safety questions
– Hazard spotting activities
– Document reviews
– Practical problem-solving challenges
– Safety Notes that explain key learning points
Every decision helps you build your score and improve your understanding of ECD Minimum Safety Standards

How to earn points
There are many ways to earn points during the game.
Answer safety questions correctly
Correct answers earn points and help build your streak.
The longer your streak, the more points you can earn.
Open Safety Notes
Safety Notes explain why an answer is correct or incorrect.
Opening a new Safety Note for the first time earns: 250 bonus points
Unlock the Safety Note Bonus
Open five different Safety Notes during a game and you’ll receive a: 5,000-point bonus
Complete mini-games successfully
Many challenges award points based on your performance.
Some activities can also award partial points if you identify some, but not all, of the correct answers.
Collect prizes
Prize blocks may award additional points and other rewards.
Reach Gold Certificate Status
Successfully completing the game earns you a significant score bonus and the satisfaction of helping Sunshine ECD Centre prepare for inspection.

What are hearts?
Hearts represent your chances during a game.
Some incorrect answers may cause you to lose a heart.
If you lose all your hearts, your game ends. Don’t worry – mistakes are part of learning, and there are opportunities to earn hearts back during play.
What is a streak?

A streak is a series of correct answers in a row.
Building a streak reward requires careful attention and good decision-making.
Why are streaks important?
– Higher streaks earn more points.
– At six correct answers in a row, you’ll unlock two dice instead of one.
– Two dice can help you move across the board faster.
What are the different mini-games?

Safe or Unsafe
Decide whether an item, situation, or practice is safe or unsafe for children.
What Is Missing?
Read a short scenario and identify the missing safety item, action, or safeguard.
Match the Fix
Match each safety problem with the most appropriate solution.
Spot Hazard
Look carefully at an ECD environment and identify hazards.
-
- Correct taps add extra time.
-
- Incorrect taps reduce your available time.
Document Check
Review a document and decide whether it should be approved or rejected.
What are Safety Notes?

Safety Notes are one of the most valuable parts of the game.
After many challenges, you’ll have the option to open a Safety Note.
These notes:
– Explain the reasoning behind answers.
– Connect game decisions to ECD safety standards.
– Help turn gameplay into practical learning.
Even when you answer correctly, it’s worth opening the Safety Note to learn more.
What are ladders and slides?

Ladders – Ladders help you move forward more quickly and get closer to the Gold Certificate.
Slides – Slides send you backwards on the board and reset your streak.
While slides can be frustrating, they don’t end your game. You can recover and continue playing.
What is Party Mode?

Party Mode adds extra fun and celebration to your game experience.
Party mode includes :
– Confetti
– Colourful effects
– A disco ball
Party Mode does not change the learning content or safety questions. It simply makes the experience more enjoyable.
How does WhatsApp sharing work?
At the end of a game, you can share a challenge with friends and colleagues through WhatsApp.
Sharing helps spread safety awareness and encourages others to play.
When you claim the sharing reward, you’ll receive: One extra starting heart for your next 10 games
Can I play more than once?

Absolutely.
In fact, the game is designed for replay.
Each game generates different combinations of:
– Questions
– Challenges
– Safety Notes
– Board experiences
The more you play, the more opportunities you have to learn, improve your score, and discover new safety insights.

THE REAL PRIZE IS SAFER ECD ENVIRONMENTS
Winning a prize is exciting, but the greatest reward is what we learn and put into practice.
Every hazard we identify, every safety question we answer and every new skill we develop helps us create environments where young children can learn, play and grow safely.
When we strengthen our knowledge of safety, we strengthen the quality of care we provide.
Let’s make children’s safety everyone’s responsibility.
PLAY. LEARN. WIN. KEEP CHILDREN SAFE.

What is the real reward?
The Gold Certificate is a great achievement – but the biggest reward is learning to notice risks and think differently about children’s safety.
Every hazard identified, every Safety Note opened, and every practical solution discovered helps build safer environments for young children.
Play again.
Notice more.
Help make ECD settings safer for every child.
