The Ntataise Network at Play: 2024 Ntataise Conference
Ntataise’s Annual Conference is an opportunity for Network members and friends of Ntataise to connect, share lessons learned in their ongoing Early Childhood Development (ECD) journeys, and discuss critical developments in the sector. The central themes of professional development, the critical role of consolidated data to inform systems adaptations, and the importance of learning through play will carry through to all Ntataise activities in 2025.
The 2024 Annual Conference added a new twist to this popular event, modelling a playful format for attendees to remind us all of the importance of learning through play. Adults too learn through play – and through collaborative discovery games, playful interactive sessions, and various challenges, conference attendees shared insights and reflected on several topical issues.
A significant topic of interest was the ECD Practitioner Level 4 Qualification (Occupational) which will soon play a critical role in the professional pathway for ECD practitioners. Activities focused on the QCTO accreditation process as well as the structure and content of the qualification. The importance of data was highlighted through a ‘Magic MERL’ storytelling event and through a competitive ‘Amazing Race’ challenge with concrete monitoring and evaluation tasks to complete, engaging with data collection, data analysis, data cleaning for accuracy and quality, and quality assurance. The conference achieved its aims of sharing knowledge and practice, strengthening relationships, and having fun at the same time.
